Bogin, Munns & Munns, P.A. Opens Gainesville Office
by Chris Wilson
Bogin, Munns & Munns, P.A., a full-service law firm that has been in business in Florida since 1979, recently opened its first office in Gainesville with attorney Adam S. Towers in the Tower Ventures Office Park on Tower Rd.
Towers, who is admitted to practice before state and federal courts in Florida & California, the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court and is a member of the Eighth Judicial Circuit Bar Association, graduated with a B.A. in history from University of California, Santa Barbara in 1998 and earned his J.D. from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 2001. “I was always interested in the court room,” says Towers. “A couple of my mentors in high school were attorneys. I always thought there was something special about them.”
Upon graduating from law school, Towers went to work for Best, Best & Krieger LLP, a 200-attorney firm in California, where he represented a number of public entities, especially in right-of-way issues. He also represented businesses and private individuals.
Towers and his wife Lauren have four children, Landon (age 9), Molly (7), Maggie (5) and Gordon (3). The couple decided to move to Gainesville because his sister’s family and his parents live here and they wanted their children to be able to grow up near their cousins. “We were ready to move to an area that is a little slower and more family-friendly,” says Towers. “It’s the best decision that we’ve made. Plus, you have excellent college sports. There are so many events to go to and great museums.”
Towers already has gotten involved in the community by coaching his son’s baseball team and becoming a Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 316. He also is Secretary for the North Florida Association of Real Estate Attorneys. Lauren is vice president of Hidden Oak Elementary’s PTA.
Towers says he enjoys being able to help people resolve problems and he enjoys many avenues of practicing law, including contract and business disputes, real estate disputes (title challenges, commercial and residential landlord/tenant disputes, eminent domain and inverse condemnation, code enforcement and substandard building matters, etc.), employment disputes, personal injury and property damage claims.
Bogin, Munns & Munns, PA is a general practice law firm with offices throughout the state, including Orlando (the location of its main office), Clermont, Daytona, Deltona, Kissimmee, Leesburg, Melbourne and Ocala. The Gainesville office, which just opened during the summer, currently has only one attorney (Towers), but the firm has plans to add more staff in the near future. “We’re excited to be in Gainesville,” says Towers. “As north central Florida continues to grow, we’re glad to bring a law firm to the area that has expertise in most areas of the law.”
The firm has 26 attorneys and 56 other staff members, including paralegals and assistants. “We’re all connected on the same computer network and we interact daily,” says Towers. “If I there is an issue that I may not have expertise on, I can contact one of our other attorneys and draw from their experience and expertise.” As a whole, Bogin, Munns & Munns can handle commercial litigation, personal injury, employment and labor law, wills, trusts, and probate, commercial and residential real estate, eminent domain/inverse condemnation, corporations/partnerships, adoption, taxation, internet law and intellectual property law.
Towers says customer service is a priority at Bogin, Munns & Munns. “We pride ourselves, to a large extent, on being a one-stop shop,” says Towers. “We represent individuals and corporations and we try to treat each client with respect.” Towers says Bogin, Munns & Munns provides its clients with timely updates. “One of the complaints I hear from people who are frustrated with their attorneys is that they don’t know what’s going on in their case or when they call, they can’t talk to their attorney. When they leave a message, they don’t get a return call. Those are things we pride ourselves on.”
Bogin, Munns & Munns can provide consultations for an hourly fee, so that their client can learn about their legal options. In addition, Towers says if there is a question he can answer over the phone, he always is glad to do so. “Many people have concerns and they don’t know who to talk to,” says Towers. “We can give them an opportunity to make an informed decision.”
